“I just can’t stop worrying about things”

“I’m terrified about what people will think”

“I feel like no one understands”

“Anxiety is ruining my life”

These are comments I hear frequently when clients first come to see me. The causes and severity of anxiety are different for everyone, but whatever the cause, it can leave the person feeling overwhelmed, isolated, depressed and out of control.

Everyone experiences anxiety from time to time, when taking an exam or going for a job interview for example. However, problematic anxiety goes far beyond feeling ‘nervous’ about something - it can be repeatedly triggered by specific events or scenarios, or can be a general, ongoing feeling of worry, tenseness and dread, which can have a debilitating effect on a person’s ability to engage with and enjoy everyday activities.

Below are some of the most common types of anxiety that I can help with, but there are many more - please get in touch if you’d like to know how I can help you.

General anxiety

Sometimes, people can experience ongoing general feelings and symptoms of anxiety. General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is a long-term condition that causes people to feel anxious about a wide range of situations and issues, rather than a specific trigger. People with GAD feel anxious most days and often can’t recall when they last felt relaxed. As soon as one anxious thought is dealt with, another occurs about something else.

Hypnotherapy can help resolve the negative thoughts and reactions that create anxiety, helping you to relax and to break the cycle of anxiety and dread.

Social anxiety and negative beliefs

This is a persistent, overwhelming fear of social situations. It causes intense fear of engaging with people in everyday activities, such as shopping or speaking on the phone. Sufferers will worry excessively about interacting with others, usually before, during and afterwards. As well as fear, it often also causes a negative preoccupation with what other people may think, severely affecting a person's confidence and self-esteem, disrupting their daily functioning, work and relationships.

Hypnotherapy can help you overcome such anxieties, increasing your confidence

and self-esteem.
